A published author, blogger, international speaker, and facilitator, Dr. Brooks-Tatum earned her Ph.D. in American Studies with a focus on gender, racial and religious identity development and cultural and performing arts from the University of Michigan. She graduated summa cum laude from UC Berkeley with a double major in English and African Diaspora Studies. She was a recent National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow and US Department of Education Fulbright-Hays Fellow in Bahia, Brazil.
